scorrierman
I ordered and received an external windscreen cover for my Tribute motorhame, (Fiat Ducato) 2007. It is a padded, winter, sun reflecive cover and about 5 times bigger than the lightwieght cover I had for an earlier Ducato model (2005) Swift Suntor. Can anyone advise as to where I might obtain a LIGHTWIEGHT cover to fit the later Ducato? The current one, when stowed in the carry case is so bulky and in my view impractical when touring in warmer climes. So why would you take it to warmer climates? What make was your old cover? They would probably do one for the later Ducato. We have a Silver Screen, , which is not too heavy PJay Buy the way, Welcome to the forum !
Keithl
Hi Derek and welcome to the forum, Have a look through the range offered by Van Comfort... http://www.vancomfort.co.uk/products.html I bought Kantop internal screens which they offer but they couldn't get the style I wanted so I bought directly from Kantop in Germany... http://www.kantop-isomatten.de/ Keith. Derek Uzzell
External windscreen covers are generally marketed for their cold-weather insulative properties (rather than as sun screens) and the asking-price tends to increase with the thickness of the material employed. On that basis, the cheaper the blind the thinner the material is likely to be and the lighter the overall weight. Charles
We made one out of a ground sheet with foil on one side and tartan material on the other. I just put it on in Spain when it gets too warm. When you walk past the front of the van you can feel the heat being reflected off it. Total cost about 5 quid. Derek Uzzell
Depends on whether the lighter weight screen needs to be single-purpose (just for protection against the sun) or to insulate against cold too. For just anti-sun use I’d be considering an inexpensive interior screen, as that should do the job, be light and would be immune to rain and wind. If the potential can be overlooked for rain harming an externally-fitted screen or wind blowing it off, this type of cheap cover might be adequate. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Magnetic-Windscreen-Cover-Frost-ICE-Snow-Protector-for-FIAT-DUCATO-07-ON-/152264080295
