daver
Hi, have a 2012 Autotrail Chieftan with an airbag light illuminated. Diagnostic interrogation said the ECU was at fault. Fairly common I understand? Have obtained a reputable 'used' item which is exactly the right part number etc. I am told that only a brand new one can be used which has to be coded to vehicle. Surely an ECU that has been installed in one vehicle can also be recoded to another vehicle? The seller assures me it can. Anyone have any experience of this or able to confirm either way. Thanks. daver
To answer my own question for the benefit of the forum. Yes an ECU can be transferred from one vehicle to another. That FIAT commercial agent did a realignment procedure and all is now well.
