WhiteCheyenneMan
Can anyone recommend a non-setting sealant in grey or translucent? I want some for sealing replacement door retainers (grey on a silver door) and grey covers on bike rack mountings, which do not fit to a waterproof seal. There are plenty of sealing strips in grey, but they would be too large/wide/fat and most non-setting sealants seem to be white or black. So far, the only one that I have found is Arbomast BR? Keithl
John, Hodgsons Seamseal CV is available in Grey but I'm not sure where you would buy it... https://www.hodgsondirect.com/products/seamseal-cv I've used it in white and it is very good. hallii
I did the same job and used this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOLT-ON-PANEL-SEALER-BUTYL-ROLL-STRIP-SEALANT-BONDING-6mm-bead-/332119777722?hash=item4d53e1a1ba:g:EHsAAMXQiw5RYyBu It's Butyl and soft and squidgy a bit like putty and very sticky. It seemed to be the same as the stuff that was used originally. H

globebuster
Arbomast BR is good stuff, but I've only seen it in big tubes. Whilst I know you've specified non-setting, you are more likely to find a silicone in the right colour. Screwfix/Tool Station have a good choice, and obviously a clear variant would be ideal for any coloured substrate. Silicone is fairly easy to remove, unlike the PU sealants. You might have guessed - I'm not a lover of non-setting BR !
Keithl
The problem with most Silicone sealants is that they release Acetic Acid as they cure and this can cause corrosion on a lot of metals used in vehicle construction. Be very careful using any household sealant on a MH. Keith.

ColinM50
Doing some work on my Swift Lifestyle I needed some non setting sealant and spoke to Marquis for their recommendation. They say the "right stuff" is Soudal Fix All. Mine was in white but they do it in grey. http://www.ukfixings.com/product/342/154/Fix-All-Seals-and-Bonds-Classic?gclid=CjwKEAiA6OnFBRDcgt7YmPKI33ESJACJoTJYF2_n0pz5IcgpH-wjqNO9MF8Sw6pywrXE1dYEfXXXIhoC9dzw_wcB
globebuster
Silicone will indeed effect Aluminium - but I was under the impression Autotrail's were GRP clad. I don't actually like silicone any more than BR products to be honest, and personally avoid using it - PU sealants are far superior, although I find some of the Bostik hybrids are better in some aspects of my work. Derek Uzzell
Despite the user-name, WhiteCheyenneVan owns a Hymer Van 562 (as shown in photo on his postings) so the vehicle’s bodywork will be aluminium-skinned. I would not have thought it important to use non-setting sealant for the tasks mentioned. It is possible to obtain grey adhesive/sealant - for instance https://www.silmid.com/sealants/polyurethane-sealants/teroson-terostat-pu-92-grey-310ml-cartridge/ but I’d probably use Hodgsons SILFIX U9 http://tinyurl.com/zpm97zk which is available in grey if colour is considered to be significant. Thanks for the clarification Derek ;-) I did start with an Autotrail Cheyenne 740 SE, hence the name, but as you correctly stated, I now have the Hymer. HymerVan562Man seems a bit too much of a mouthful (lol). I want to use non-setting sealant in order to facilitate replacement in the future and because, being a pessimist, the bike rack mounts could leak in the future (I've already had the adjoining marker lights reset under warranty). The mount covers are quite flimsy and tend to flex when mounting and dis-mounting the rack, so I reckon that a flexible non-setting sealant will resist this better and is easily topped-up or replaced.
