dolken
Hi All In May we're off to France, beginning in the Vendee region which we did last year, then moving to southern Brittany. I've been doing a bit of homework on aires and sites that we may visit, and would appreciate any recommendations. We're looking around the Pornichet, Vannes area and hope to visit a mixture of aires and sites. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. We like to cycle s not too many hills please! Hubby/dog might need to find alternative means of transport though.
dora_ex
Have you come across this website on your searches?? Shows the eight major cycle routes in Brittany and you can search by your level. It's brilliant for just picking out part of the longer distance rides you might want to take. https://cycling.brittanytourism.com/cycle-route-in-brittany

D There is an aire/site at Conleau , you can then walk/cycle along the side the river to Vannes. i don't think you can take MH into Vannes now,. plenty of site.aires in Brittany. Vannes a very old town, lot's of history. We have been a few times , as we are "Twinned" with them, so have been in van and also by sailing boat PJay
dolken
Many thanks for these suggestions, will check them out. Brittany looks wonderful, with so many sites/aires it's hard to know where to begin.
Keith T
Living in Devon, we use Plymouth to Roscoff ferry, and have been many times through and round Brittany..its a really lovely area , and there are so many campsites and aires, that we .just explore and stop wherever we happen to end up.....we have use the site at Conlieu mentioned above, and its really excellent location for walking into Vannes old town. The campsite also has a fully functioning Aire adjacent, which from memory I think has EHUs but not showers. Impossibly to recommend any specific sites though as there is so much choice. Derek Uzzell
The campsite at Conleau is “Flower Camping le Conleau” http://en.vannes-camping.com/ http://en.vannes-camping.com/uploads/download/58a5c06f0e689_2017-conleau-tarifs.pdf The ‘aire’ at Conleau is nowadays a Camping-Car Park installation. http://www.campingcarpark.com/en http://www.campingcarpark.com/fr/aire-camping-car-park/vannes-conleau As far as I’m aware no Camping-Car Park installation has showering facilities (list here) http://www.campingcarpark.com/sites/default/files/brochures/Web%20-%20Liste%20des%20aires%20-%20032017.pdf and, in May, the campsite may be the better bargain. There are plenty of campsites in the Vannes/Auray area http://tinyurl.com/lscpxl4 We've occasionally stayed at "Camping Municipal La Falaise” near Locmariaquer http://www.campingmunicipallafalaise.com/en/camping-locmariaquer Right by the sea and plenty of cycling opportunities. dolken
Many thanks for these, really helpful. Our plan is to begin in Saumur in the Loire, move on to Angers, then into Brittany and see where we get to in the time. Can't wait. D
DJA
Hi Dolken We can recommend Rochefort-en-Terre which is in the Vanne area. It is a very pretty little village with some nice shops and restaurants. We would certainly stop there again if in the area. Have a look on Google Earth and you will see the Car and Motorhome parking facility at the Eastern End of the village. It is not technically an aire and has no facilities but you can stay overnight. We approached the village from the West and must admit did wonder if we were supposed to drive through the middle. You do drive straight through although it is narrow we had no problems with other traffic. Another Brittany village is Locronan. Doug
