Christmas card from France

How nice it was to recieve a Christmas card from a small Frence municipal site in central France that we stayed at on our travels this year.

It came via the local tourist office, and one wonders why we do not recieve such gestures in this country, from the many sites we visit.

We will certainly call there again on our travels, and I suppose this was their intention, it brings back memories of a peaceful site, tall trees and a short stroll to the local shop for our morning baggette. Roll on New Years adventures. chas

This has happened to us also, quite heart warming. We received one from Loche a few years ago but they have gone upmarket now! Where was your site? Good wishes to you.

Hi Mary- The site was The Squirrels in the village of Magnac- Bourg, not far from Limoges, we decided to call in to see if it was still there, it had been a few years since our last visit, and it had not changed, very peaceful and all you needed to break up the journey home. Happy New Year to you to. chas

That is a surprise - the Squirrels, can't attempt the French spelling, was about the second site we stayed in the first year we came to France. The main road went past then and there was a lorry drivers pull-in just down the road where we had a good meal. We have visited it twice since but not for a few years now as we went in different direction. The site was much the same at our last visit though the town was much more pleasant without the lorries crawling through. Will have to go again in 2007.

All the best, Empress
