stevec176
According to the latest Aires book and map the Aires in Merida is closed, well it's not. It's central to all the Roman sites and it has all the amenities except drain down. I only found it when we walked past it after a 4km walk from Camping Merida. If you look on www.areasautocaravanas.com. It's 33° here at the moment.
david lloyd
The only one we found in Merida Steve was a car park - which was very close to the Roman sites - but not a great overnight stop. Didn't see any working facilities there and it is pay as you exit. Is this the same one or is there another, better one? David
stevec176
Could be the same park but the vans were connected and we were told there were facilities, maybe need to check if you visit.
Matrix Meanderer
First of all you are very brave to stay at Camping Merida - we stayed at this dump and found it to be the pits a couple of years ago. A struck off ACSI and rightly so in our opinion! We also parked in the central car park which is also the vehicle and scooter pound to visit the ruins. The parking area then had 24 hour security but it's a poor option as it's floodlit and noisy with buses, lorries all moving around at odd hours. Toilets and fresh water were in the tourist office building but not sure about anything else or opening hours. BTW the latest edition of "All the Aires" Spain and Portugal dated September 2015 shows this Aire as closed. Alternatives at Caceres and Don Benito.
