henry
*-) :-( Hi, What year please and could it be an S550 on a mercedes chassis which would possibley be 3 litre ( ours was an '85, gorgeous old girl Regards Henry
docted
Jon As always on questions regarding MPG a great deal depends on the foot on the accelerator. A rough guide would be approx mid 20s although some people claim low 30s. The Merc 3 litre is a robust and long lived engine if treated properly ie regular servicing with oil and filter changesan. At 53 kw this is roughly 72 bhp so do not expect to break any world record for getting to places quickly, but you are in a motorhome so relax and enjoy the journey. Good luck Docted

henry
*-) (lol) (lol) Our old Hymer was born 2 years before your proposed purchase we had a 3 litre Merc engine and it did 23-24 mpg, but that was driven around 50mph. We had to respect her age, and she went everywhere in the highlands without complaint! Regards Henry
