GEL - Haze 104Ah GEL batteri - HZY-MR12-110

Spec. for my batteries (GEL - Haze 104Ah GEL batteri - HZY-MR12-110)

says max 14,4 volt charge voltage

My solar regulator (Votronic MPPT350Dua) got several programs; also for GEL, AGM1, AGM2, LiFePo4.

The regulator GEL program charge voltage is 14,3 volt charge.

How ever, the AGM1 program give 14,4 volt charge.

Use the AGM1 program?

Or stay safe; use the GEL program?

:-D

The Haze document is showing the maximum voltage, not the ideal.

Most Gels will be happier on 14.2 or 14.3v as they like slower, gentler charging for maximum life.

The AGM setting is likely to dry out the battery.

I will keep the GEL setting on the solar regulator. :-D

I did look at my AC charger; CTec MXS25;

using 14,4 Volt as max charge voltage, and FLOAT at 13,6 volts

Says good for GEL on the unit.

Would not dry out my bat.. or?

I am guessing that you have bought such a big Solar regulator because you intend to spend most time off grid? I therefore also guess that time on the CTEK will be minimal?

If so, if it was me, I wouldn't worry too much about the CTEK.

Solar is different because it is an everyday charger so likely to make a difference if running at the maximum voltage for every day of the year.

TNX for your thoughts.

400 watts is great for a cordless life.

How ever; Living in nordic area does not come with a guarantee for sun.

More panels helps against low solar angle and low intensity.
