william4
We have a 2011 Autotrail Tracker - On two occasions both the leisure battery and vehicle battery have discharged themselves so much so that I have been unable to start the M/H. The only reason seems to be that I have not completely switched off the total system via the Sargent. On observing the system with the switch on the Sargent on I notice that the system is drawing 0.2/.3 amps with everything off. - any thoughts as what could be drawing this current ? Obviously this current over a time period would flatten the battery.
EJB
My leisure battery never discharges over time as there is no draw. However the vehicle battery runs down to about 12.3 volts if left for 3 or more weeks. This is due to the drain from the alarm and radio and goodness knows what else. I always check the voltage at 3 weeks, if it is idle for that period, then put a charger on it for a few hours. That's my long term experience with new and old batteries ;-) HTH PS My Tracker is somewhat older than yours and switching off my control panel isolates the leisure battery. thebishbus
It could possible be your car radio memory and clock ,if it has one . My original car radio with no clock did not drain much from the battery when switched off . The replacement one does and will drain the battery after about 3 weeks if i forget to switch the solar panel to it. Brian B.
Charles
Our whale heating draws power when it's off, just the circuit board is powered up but it's about 0.1 amps
YorkshireGlobecar
Depends what circuits are live when all is switched off. Our starter battery loses charge after about 2 weeks due to 1. Radio memory etc 2. Aftermarket Thatcham 1 alarm 3. Active vehicle tracker 4. Draw from the canbus system of the van We have ours attached to EHU while parked on the drive and that keeps everything ready to go at a moments notice, the beauty of a MH, you don't always need to plan your trips away and can take off anytime the weather is good. rooster63
Hi, I also had problems with my starter battery discharging if left unused for about a week. Connecting to the EHU only charged the leisure battery. I was able to identify the terminals for the starter battery on the distribution board and bought a CTEK trickle charger which came with a connector lead with eyelet connector which I attached to the terminals. The board is in a little compartment under the wardrobe so I leave the connector plug protruding from one of the ventilation holes in the base of the wardrobe and then when on EHU it only takes a few seconds to connect the charger and plug into a nearby 13A socket in the van. Tops up the battery nicely and is safe to be left on as it is a 4 stage charger only putting in 0.5Amps. Making the connections on the DB was easier than on the battery (underneath the floor on the passenger side) or on the jump start connectors (underneath the bonnet)
