Does anyone have a handover checklist that they could share with me to help us with our collection today. Took this from another forum and covers new & second hand vans :- PRE –DELIVERY INSPECTION CHECKLIST You will get a much better response from the seller for faults found before you take delivery so ensure that you go through everything with a fine tooth comb. SATISFY YOURSELLF BEYOUND DOUBT THAT THE MOTORHOME BELONGS TO THE SELLER AND IS HIS TO SELS! External Checks General Condition; Look at how the motorhome sits on the ground. Is it square Look along the bodywork for signs of de-lamination Roof; Carefully check the ladder before trusting it. Check all the fittings and vents of the roof to see that they are still sealed soundly. Doors Check the lock operation, and that the door hangs square and fits the hole cleanly and is draught free. Lockers; Check all the lockers, catches and locks, and if they have lights they work also. Any gas struts that hold the lockers open should work. Windows; Check to see that the catches work and the stays hold the windows open and close easily Generator; Check the door lock and seal, check the exhaust is in good condition and start to see and hear it running Gas Locker; Check the door lock and seals look at the condition of tank if fixed and connections and pigtails of portable gas is use Tyres and wheels; Inspect the tyres, how old are they? Some professionals advise that all tyres over 5 years are replaced even if they have plenty of tread left. Awnings and Slide-outs; Check the operation, look for mildew and rot on awnings and slide out awnings. Check the seals of the slide-outs. For slides heck that the manual retraction tool is available. Batteries; The motorhome will have an engine battery and the habitation battery bank, check that they look in good condition, no corrosion and electrolyte levels are correct Steps; Watch the operation of electric steps, do the auto retracts work when you start the engine? Levellers & steadies; Familiar yourself with the operation, check that they work. Spare Wheel; Where is it, what condition, are the tools available to change it? Marine Toilet; Check the operation of the dump valves, condition of hoses. Locker should be Spotless Electrical Locker; Check the condition, if RV check the conversion from 110 to 220v. Check Operation Cassette Toilet; check that the cassette is present and check the condition of the locker it should be spotless. Internal Checks Cabinets; look for scratches loose handles and that catches are secure Light Switches; Check every light switch. All bulbs should work switches should be positive. Battery Disconnect Switch. Find it and read your handbook as to when you should use it Interior Fabrics; Look for condition, wear and fading or mismatched cushions etc Water Heater: Check the operation on both electric and gas. Space Heater: Check the operation on both electric and gas. Stove & Oven Check the operation on both electric and gas, check that all stove burners operate via the piezo gas lighter Fridge; Check the operation on Mains hook-up, 12 volt and gas, it should start cooling in less than ten minutes Circuits and Fuses; Check the condition and test the circuit breaker Blinds and curtains; check every single blind, curtain and insect net for smooth operation Sleeping area; Check the beds and that all cushions required are present Alarm Operation: Check that you have LP Gas, Carbon Monoxide and a Smoke alarm fitted and working TV & Sound System: Check Operation, all remote controls are present along with aerials and dishes Fans and Vents; Check that they operate correctly and that fans work on both 12 and 240 volt John Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Is it square Look along the bodywork for signs of.............# Blimey.....that's one heck of a checklist!!! 8-) From reading various other forums, many of those listed seem to be regular gripes from customers buying NEW, never mind second hand!!! One buyer (brand new van) had TWO water pumps fitted in 18 months ownership. 8-) Buying used means you have to take into account "fair wear and tear" and the price should reflect that.
