Dirt Skirts

No, it's not a mucky 'x' rated posting!

Our little Smart car (on the trailer) gets covered in grot whenever the road is wet, as does the back of the Clou Liner. We have seen a few motorhomes - particularly the big ones - with dirt skirts.

Does anyone out there use one, if so - does it work?

Mind you them American big RV 's everythings big in America so I suppose thats why they have em wouldn't be big and flashy without one would it .

Seen the size of the pedals on a Harley ?

Mac Donalds make it large ? American ?

Only joking used to have em on my ford Capri god knows why ?

(lol) *-) Hi,

when you come up with a good answer, do let us know. We have a Hymer 534 and the rear window gets clarted at the drop of a hat ( or rain) and then we have no rear view when driving. Have thought of mud guards but just havn't got round to trying yet. Much easier to shove the missus out with a mop!

Hello Vixter,

I do not use a Dirt Skirt on the present van but do have rear mudflaps which in all honesty do not keep the rear of the van very clear.

Used to use a bumper fixed spray suppression mudflap on the car when towing the caravan and it definitely kept the front of the caravan cleaner. The problem is not just from your own vehicle but spray from other vehicles especially on motorways where there is the spray from both overtaken and overtaking vehicles.

Have you considered using a cover over the Smart either a full cover or front hood or half cover over the window areas.

Regards,

Mike.

A Smart car? Can't you put that in the shower compartment?

Hi Vixter- The problem with motorhomes is the rear slab effect causes the wind and dirt to be sucked down, I get the back window covered with rain and dirt even though I fitted some decent wide mudflaps, the makers ones fitted were useless. I think the only way to stop it would be if the manufactures designed a roof fairing at the rear to lift the water and filth in the air up and away. chas
