Mike n Jane
Hi all, Purchased Ford Herald Squire LS 1998 in Sept 16. After first tryout we found out how green we were regarding use and operation of appliances, very grateful to other motorhomers. Found out how expensive it is if you purchase with rose tinted glasses. Replaces drop down sink, front shock absorbers, wheel bearings, brake pipes. Purchased TV, solar panel, bike rack. Now hopefully we can enjoy our new toy. Mike n Jane
Will86
Welcome to the forum. M&J. There's always someone who has an answer on here be it a kind remark or a tough comment on what should have been carried out before buying what could be an expensive run-a-bout. Even as we speak there's a buyer who has problems with a van that a dealer has supplied as good when it could be quite the opposite Working well they are a delight and take you into another world but bear in mind that most things have a limited life. Many of us recommend hiring first and its not a cheap hobby. When looking at the expensive vans on sites its very likely the owners have been through similar difficulties so ask them if you have a query. If you are a practical person most things are repairable to correct but remember if parking in a field the countryside can retaliate with strong gusts of wind and sink you into their world that will need a tow out. I cannot comment on your purchase. We hired twice and took many years to decide what and which type and size to buy plus being able to do almost any repair that arose. In 6 years we fulfilled all that we aimed for. It was a memorable time. Will
Mike n Jane
Hi Will, Thanks for info, motorhome was supplied with new MOT, but our mechanic noted the items that needed to be done. We did not trust dealer to do the work as safari room disappeared when having new carpet & upholstery covers, they kept saying that there was no safari room. Dealer did refund for new engine battery. We should have complained, but decided that it was best to leave it, we have learnt our lesson. Now very happy with "Laura" Mike n Jane
