kevandali
Hi everyone, we had planned to look at the weather and head for South Wales, Norfolk or Northumberland, depending on which seemed best. No got a few more days off than planned so going to jump on the ferry and head for the Dordogne. Plan to park up, get the Kayak, dog, wife and wine out the van, not neccessarily in that order. Hoping for an Aire/Campsite that doesn't have all the whistles and bells but where we can just chill for several days before we decide to meander on. We will eventually visit Salat and Domme area but just looking for a place to head for initially as plan to drive straight down tl Dordogne area from Calais..... chers for any info in advance. Solomongrundy
Have a look at these two Aires - should be okay for kayaking and chilling out - LIMEUIL (44.884682, 0.890893) ST LEON SUR VÉZERE (45.012280, 1.089683)
kevandali
Cheers for that 'Solomangrundy' will stick the co-ordinates in the sat nav, both look good. Any more recommendations most welcome :-)
Solomongrundy
Just to say - Limeuil has a great Bar, good restaurant and the Aire is free. St Leon sur Vézere costs €6 a night (collected) and has a cracking Restaurant close by run by an American lady. Both small towns are well worth a walk around. Other Aires that might be of use are - BEAULIEU SUR DORDOGNE (44.976338, 1.841008) at €5.50 a night. ST LEON SUR L'ISLE (45.120021, 0.496454) which is free but out of the town. LE ROQUE GAGEAC is good for kayaking but a busy tourist town and very expensive to park – the Aire gets full by dinnertime and has cramped parking. CASTELNAUD (44.813044, 1.152602) is great for a free daytime stop for picnicing and kayaking but overnighting is not allowed. Hope this helps :-D :-D :-D :-D

JeffersonCampervan
sorry - I had googled the official site & posted the link, assuming the aire would be mentioned, since I've stayed there several times over the past 20 years. There is an aire as well: https://www.campercontact.com/en/france/aquitaine-no-24-47/st-vincent-de-cosse/1702/motorhome-parking-la-ferme-du-port-denveaux.aspx
kevandali
Got a few choices...... Come on you lovely lot, you are bound to have been to the Dordogne, even if you can't remember, bet you wrote it down somewhere?I am slightly less organised for this forthcoming trip, not sure of exact date off work till end of this week, no ferry booked, no clear destination both than 'Dordogne' not even sure we are going in current van or new van gets delivered before we go. Other than that, all tickety boo :-)
