mlarkinwhh.co.uk Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Hi In need of help My dometic fridge has stopped working on 240v Works fine on 12v and gas Been told the element is ok (has a reading of 270ohms) so that rules that out Cant seem to find anyone to look at it Live in Yorkshire yet don't mind traveling to far to get it looked at (but soon because going away HELP)
StuartO Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 The commonest cause of this problem is a failed heating element but if the 240v heating element is definitely OK, logically it's the 240v supply which is failing in some way, so check the fuse. If you tell us what motorhome (and what year) someone may be able to give you more specific advice about where the supply comes from and where the fuse is. The big clubs operate an approved/recommended dealer scheme so you could look up someoen in Yorkshire from that or use google to find one near you.
mlarkinwhh.co.uk Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 Thanks for reply StuartO Van is a 2006 Hymer and the fridge is a Dometic RMT7655L Been looking again today through the outer vents A cable runs from the back of the control panel at the top of the fridge to the element at the bottom this is dead
StuartO Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Hymers are fitted with Schaudt electrical systems so the 230v supply routes from the MCB (in my case under the wardrobe) to a distribution box (behind the fridge?) where it splits between the supply to the fridge and the supply to the EBL, which in my vase is off side above the gas locker. If the EBL is still getting 240 volts, so will the distribution box so look for a disconnection in there.
