mjay
Hi all, Has anyone stayed overnight in the Little Roodee Car Park in Chester as advertised in the Britstops book before we trek up there next weekend ( 22 July ) or would we be better off finding a campsite nearby and going in by bus/cycles ? Thanks.
Bojitoes
Hi I do not know if the car park is the one I am thinking of beside the racecourse, in which case it is quite small- I may however be wrong. Whenever we go to Chester we alkways stop at the caravan Club Chester Oaks campsite which has excellent bus services to Chester as well as good shopping and pubs within walking distance. Hope this helps bob

paulmold
If you do go, make sure you take your ticket from the correct machine, one is for coaches. The cafe is being refurbished after being closed for a couple of years, should be reopened by end of July.

Gram
Could somebody tell me - is fresh water available at The Little Roodie (apart from the river!). G
KeithR
as far as i can remember there were no dedicated facilities, but as there are toilets there then there is access to water (not easy), and to cassette emptying. its probably best to go 'loaded'. i sure someone else can give a more precise reply. if the cafe is opening as someone has said, then i imagine they would give you easy water access. i was definately impressed. at last a town who appreciate our custom!!! John52
Take a look at Victoria Crescent area on Google Maps. Wide streets, free and unrestricted parking, residents don't mind you using it as they have all got their own drives. Its a short and pleasant walk into Chester City centre over the river using the pedestrian footbridge. Only problem is it fills up with commuters. If you get there early, late, or Sundays you can get a space ok. But you might struggle to find a space during the working day. I have parked my van there overnight a couple of times no bother at all. :-D

yeti
Nothing to be concerned about at Roodee. If you want a site try Netherwood House on the A41 bus stop right outside.

grahamt63
I live in Chester and it's a great overnight car park, or few days if you like the city. Always see a few motorhomes there, especially at the weekends. If your lucky you might even get a car parking space overlooking the River Dee. As it's a pay car park, with barriers, I would image it's quite overnight too. Can't beat a good nights sleep :-D
mjay
Thanks for the feedback but didn't make it this week end as the little dog was at the vets for his yearly booster and rabies jabs in preparation for our winter away. Apparently he needs to be anesthetized to have his teeth de plaqued and polished so we will try again soon.
