Out of context again.? It appears he was saying what he thought she was being accused of by the hard line Iranians.

Brian B.

ps . Do not forget at the moment there is an attempt by all types to bring the government down and destroy Brexit.

Under pressure in the House of Commons, Boris repeatedly refused to change his stance, still blaming listeners for misunderstanding, and has only impressed people that he is keener to save face than try to save this woman.

He refuses to write to the committee to ask to modify his remarks.

Anna Soubry says his lack of contrition is shameful, that he doesn’t understand magnitude of the job & responsibility he holds

I wonder if Boris is repeating what he was told in a briefing by the Security Services, and can't change it now without misleading Parliament.?

In which case it would have been beter to keep his mouth shut altogether. But then he doesn't seem much good at that either :-(

James Kirkup, director of the Social Market Foundation, and former colleague of Boris Johnson at the Telegraph, on Twitter: 'Exc. whips & ministers etc, only c9 Tory MPs in Commons for Boris on Iran. For any other minister, on any other day, that would be the end.'

Does this mean Theresa May is now so weakened and paralysed by the succession of crisis she daren't take on another reshuffle?

You have hit the nail on the head John. I am beginning to despair at the competence of her cabinet and her apparent inability to do anything about it.

Thank you Violet, it means a lot.

I despair most of all at the plight of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe because she reminds me of the hugely courageous men and women who won what freedoms we enjoy today. :-(

Yeah its all Boris's fault *-) ........Nothing wrong with those nice cuddly Iranians eh? :-| ........

But we probably can't do much about the Iranian Government short of declaring yet another war that would be even more catastrophic than our illegal invasion of Iraq.

Wheras we should be able to do something about our Foreign Secretary making things worse for an innocent British citizen in one of their jails.

I cannot think of a more inept Foreign Secretary the country has been lumbered with and this fiasco should send a clear message out to all British traveling in foreign countries........the last person you want speaking on your behalf is Boris Johnson.

Or our vital exporters having customs and tax disputes with foreign officials.

I guess their best chance is some help from the EU before we leave. :-S

So they aren't Muslims then

Why do you lump al so-called Muslims in together.

Sir Jimmy Savile OBE KCSG claimed to be Church of England - do you lump all them in together as well?

Maybe Corbyn should offer to intercede then he can show us how its done? ;-) ...........

Why don't you suggest it to your mate :D ...........

I've watched the video of his comments to the Committee if that's what he meant to say what he actually said was nothing like that.

I can't see how there is any legitimate link with some people's efforts to destroy Brexit as you put it. He alone is responsible for all the consequences of his own behaviour in destabilising the government and potentially damaging our relations with other countries at such a critical time. Which representative of any other country could be confident that they could exchange views or information with him without there being a risk that they would be misquoted? There are those who thought the appointment of Boris as Foreign Secretary was a joke in the first place. They have been proved right but it's not very funny at all as it turns out.

hi,

I think the trouble for the uk is that Boris is perceived as a bit of a buffoon by lots of the public and many in the House of Commons, so it cannot be helpful overall for relations with other Foreign Ministers. We need all our Ministers to have an air of respect and knowledge about them if nothing else. Seems a big ask at the moment.

cheers

This young ladies dual nationality meant if info is correct she travelled on her Iranian passport ... For me it's not a British problem then ... It's an Iranian one so let's leave it to the civilised Muslim country of Iran to deal with

This is the full video from the Foreign Affairs committee where Johnson made his major gaffe. I've trawled through it until i found the exact spot and will quote verbatim;

"When you look at what Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was doing, she was simply teaching people journalism as i understand it.....".

Watch from 15: 13. 00s on and the actual statement is at 15: 16,57s

Johnson was totally wrong and bang out of order. He HAS to go.......simple as that. The most inept, foolish and blundering Foreign Secretary this country has had the misfortune to be lumbered with.

Because, unfortunately, Boris is on our side in the Brexit negotiations, and this case shows what he is like.

No one puts anti-Semitic Jeremy before Corbyn do they ???

Thats probably because Jeremy Corbyn is not Anti-Semetic

( He is the sort of guy who sticks up for the weak, and the Palestinians are the weaker side. So he has been accused of not doing enough to tackle Anti-Semetism, but thats not the same thing as being Anti-Semetic himself.)

I used to think that about the Palestinians until I started reading the Koran :-| ........

Now I know they'll never be able to square that circle *-) .......

Ironic how the known Islamaphobes shout about anti-Semitism when both remain naively oblivious to the fact the hate groups they espouse are blatantly anti-Semitic in their ugly politics, in fact it's a major root ingredient of their white supremacist hate bile.

I would have at least expected the forums far right extremist who likes to get all cuddly with neo-Nazis to know that.

I wonder if those Muslim sex gangs are anti-Semitic ... In court in my home town yesterday they were ... Wonder who we could ask who might know

Well Boris has got funny hair, and is a bit of a character which can be quite entertaining. So he's well in with the Tory press, having his own columns. All of which brings in a few votes, which Theresa May needs since she has already used our borrowed money to buy all the DUP have for sale.

But I always try to imagine myself in the other guys shoes.

Imagine it was your mum in the Iranian Jail. Or our secret services working undercover in hostile territory, wondering whether Boris is going to drop you in it as well. 8-)

#Iran stateTV welcomes @BorisJohnson's remarks ab Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe (@FreeNazanin) as an "unintended confession of the UK gov ab the real plot” behind her trip to Iran & a “proof” of #IRGC's accusations against her.” via @NarimanGharib

Neo-Nazis, those "nice good folk" you claim to 'know' aren't just Islamaphobic.....they are anti-Semitic. Ironic then that one of the most vocal, Ann Waters, is a lesbian supporting an evil ideology that threw gay people into concentration camps.......the same that sent six million Jews into the gas chambers.

What on earth are you on about ??? ... Anne Marie Waters name has an E at the end of Ann and since when has she been a Neo-nazi ??? ... Anyone who questions Islam is a Neo-nazi in your world ... Your a sad and bitter old man who apologises for things that turn most folks stomachs ... Sickening
