Tony M
Hi all, Does anyone know if it is still possible to overnight at Port Solent near Portsmouth? I read somewhere that it depends on the discretion of the security staff on duty. Thanks in advance. Tony
PJay
Can't see a problem. Boat users leave their cars and vans there, for weeks on end leave it away from the Cinema area. Or park up at the top of Portsdown hill. near the Forts ! PJay
Tony Jones
We've always used the free car park on Whale Island Way, when we've had an early ferry. Very close to the terminal, very quiet, no restrictions (beyond a 24 hr limit).

Derek Uzzell
If you want to try the Whale Island Way car park, the GPS coordinates are 50.815709 -1.090624 and it’s easily visible using ‘Street View’ on the map here http://www.ukcarparks.info/whale-island-way-car-park-portsmouth#sthash.beb2wLLN.XG7WYVhb.dpbs You’ll see that the car park is pretty small. It’s also close to a naval establishment, but there’s nothing on-line to suggest that present-day heightened security concerns have affected parking there. Tony M
Thanks Derek. It does look a bit on the small side but very handy for the ferry terminal. I’ll give it a try when we disembark.
