fesspark
Friend of mine just returned from Portugal travelling via Caen and he left his m,home as he always does to do a shop in a safe looking area, when he returned to his vehicle he noticed a side window smashed, nothing taken, moving on a mile or so he spotted a hundred or two africans walking around the area and people giving them food, he stopped and as he speaks french he conversed with a couple of locals, one told him, they are stealing anything and the broken window of his would have ended up with a brake in if he had not gone back to his m,home before darkness, so beware the french port areas are less than safe and getting worse. fesspark

Derek Uzzell
PJay - 2017-11-26 11:58 PM Stop to Shop ?? Why? Prices are now high in France Where is the saving. ? It was pretty bad at Caen , when we came back in early October The potential savings depend on what is bought. This link lists typical prices in France https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/country_result.jsp?country=France and there’s no doubt that significant savings can be made where French and UK taxation policies differ. A classic example is wine - particularly bag-in-box wine containers - where UK taxation can treble the cost of exactly the same product bought on promotion in France. My wife engages ’extreme shopping mode’ the day before we return from France, buying who-knows-what from the E. Leclerc supermarket between Caen and Ouistreham (I stay in the motorhome as I loathe shopping) so she must believe the effort is worthwhile.
