Dear Mr Moderator,

Please can we put a cap on the size of the posts both on chatterbox and on Motorhome Matters. We have had a few "quiet" days but are now back to reading reams of words.

Going for the Paracetamol now.

Bon weekend

Dear Mr Randonneur,

You do not have to read all the posts. Your choice, and I think you should be grateful as some people go to a lot of effort to write lengthy and detailed posts.

Hiding the Paracetamol now,

Jon.

Randonneur. Why don't you like reading lengthy posts? Some topics need in-depth detail. What about the 'information' posts that we have found so very interesting and helpful?

I say THREE CHEERS for all those who have taken the time and trouble to compose posts for the benefit of others. I am sure that their wisdom and experience are appreciated by the majority of readers.

My only sugestion would be - please try to give a new thread a Subject that reflects the content. However, some 'off-topic' postings can also be interesting...

If you don't like 'em, don't read 'em, ultimately you have the choice.

The posts are what the forum is about "chatterbox" Chatter = talking,  box is what we put it in. 8-)

I didn't say I wasn't grateful for the information that posts give you but it seems to me that some of our users just go over the top. Information that is given is very valuable and myself and my husband ARE grateful for the help and advice that fellow motorhomers have given to us especially as we live here and our French is not that good. I just think that some users just like to waffle for the sake of it thats all.

Isn't it nice to stir up a hornets' nest.

Dear Mrs. Randonneur, I like a bit of wooden spoon in the morning! Do you by any chance own a Rapido? I envy you - living in the Charante area - we spend quite a bit of our French holidays in "your" area.

Hi Randonneur. As a life long "waffler" I see your point, but surely its the content and not the length of the posting that counts. As an example, I know Frank W. and Brian K. are not seeing eye to eye at the moment, but if you go back over some of their recent postings you will find page after page of interesting subjects, and the fact that we all have different opinions only adds to the interest.

Getting back to the wooden spoon, lets just say its only those with short attention spans that would have a problem following these lengthy postings. ;-) Howard.

Dear Empress,

Yes we have a 1998 Rapido 740F bought in October and we are very pleased with it. The finish inside and out is excellent and to say it is 8 years old plus it is in first class condition.

We live in the south Charente about 30 miles south of Angouleme and 50 miles north of Bordeaux and about 2 miles from the Dordogne border. Our friends call it the shabby Charente and we call theirs the Dog Doyne, all a bit of fun really.

And fun is what this site should be all about, people enjoying and learning about their hobby and passions not petty arguments.

Quite right, but you are not taking into account human nature, and you watch those viewing numbers soar when the insults start flying around. No doubt that some find this distastfull, but it seems the majority enjoy nothing better than when the gloves come off. *-)

Thanks for your reply - will look out for your Rapido when in the shabby area! Our van is a 66M Rapido bought secondhand - It has two single beds as well as the drop down over cab bed which suits us three old girls! Very pleased with it.

Just to keep the wooden spoon going - it would help if quotes were cut to just the relevant bit, or simply refer the reader back to the post, otherwise I have to reach for the red stuff [nothing like paracetamol here you note] to stop my brain stuttering....

I must admit that some of the posts do get extremely long winded at times ... fortunately I can just do a quick scan of them to see if anything interesting appears to have been said - speed reading is something everyone can train themselves to do it just takes practice, you don't take in all of the blurb but you soon learn to spot the relevant bits. 8-)

The ones that really bore me are the ones where there is a knit-picking row going on, which doesn't add anything constructive to the posting, just causes confusion and/or is basically a p*ssing contest. I just glance and them and move on to the next bit that interests me. If the knit-pickers want to take time to input their 'views' then that's up to them, I don't have to waste my time reading it. :-|

Mrs R - Aren't paraceutamols very expensive in France? Surely something more alcoholic would generally be much nicer and cheaper! (lol)

the length of posts is irrelevant, its their content thats dubious!!!!!!!!!! i agree, just dont read them if you dont want to. personally, as a new user, i have learned a lot and gathered some useful recommendations (thank you!). i have to say i have also learned that some people take this 'hobby' rather seriously!
