I’ve had my van up plated from 3500 to 4100 by JR consultancy cost £150 inc vat.

John.

Was that starting with a 3500Kg MAM chassis with axle maximums of 1850Kg front and 2000Kg rear, John?

It's a Campscout, these are built on the Maxi chassis. 2.1/2.4t

Suggest you discuss with VB as they are in the best position to advise.

Options are probably limited if you have 15 inch tyres.

I agree.

SVTech would probably suggest that a coachbuilt motorhome built on a Fiat Ducato X290 3500kg ‘camping-car’ chassis with 15”-diameter wheels could have its maximum overall weight uprated to 3850kg by fitting 225/70 R15-size tyres to the rear axle and adding rear air-bellows. (If the vehicle had 16”-diameter wheels, only the air-bellows would be required.)

But as VB ‘full air’ suspension is to be fitted to Pete’s motorhome, it would be sensible to ask VB about this and, if they don’t involve themselves with weight-uprating, to get them to liaise with SVTech.

Our van is on the maxi chassis with 16” wheels and 2400 on rear axle and 2100 front axle.

John.

Which is what we did to a 2010 Fiat Autotrail Cheyenne a few years back to get to a sensible payload, but SV Tech advised us to have all five wheels with the same size tyre, which made sense.

Those mods made no practical difference to ride or handling and DIY fitting the Dunlop air ride inflatable bump stop replacements, supplied by Marcle Leisure, was very easy for anyone with a modicum of DIY ability.

We had to visit a 'local' DVLA office which was some 50 miles away and after some head scratching and faffing about they decided my paperwork was all correct and a lower rate tax disc was issued together with a small refund of VED and a new V5 followed later.
