michaelmorris
Hi Our 2003 Elddis Autoquest is starting to show her age. Nothing serious, but grey hairs and wrinkles are definitely starting to show! We've decided to try to slow the advance in to decrepitude by starting an enhanced programme of planned maintenance. One of the many little things we've decided to do is put some silicone lubricant on the toilet seals to keep them in good shape. Thetford sell a Seal Lubricant for this purpose. https://www.thetford-europe.com/product/seal-lubricant/# However, it looks to all intents and purposes to a simple silicone spray lubricant. Now we already have a a can of silicone awning rail lubricant. https://www.towsure.com/awning-rail-zip-lubricant-spray?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjpXmtuSP2QIV5p3tCh00Lwt-EAQYASABEgJyYPD_BwE Is this going to be a safe and effective substitute for the Thetford Product? Caddies104
Hi I guess without looking at the make up of the spray, I would say yes. Bit like all the different cough mixtures you can get :-)
Derek Uzzell
Any lubricant that won’t harm rubber should be safe. Olive oil used to be recommended and KY Jelly should be OK.
michaelmorris
I guessed it was probably okay, but just checking. Thanks

emmerson
I can recommend a spray called GT85. It contains Teflon, too. Aldi, around £2.00 a can.
