Delfin Driver Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 We are hoping to visit Paris for a few days in February and ideally would like to use public transport only once on site. We have been looking at Camping Bois de Boulogne but there is conflicting information (including from the website) about whether there is an all year round bus link to the nearest railway/metro station from the site. Grateful if anyone has any details on this site or,alternatively, details of any other site in the Paris area that might be open at that time and has the necessary public transport link . Many thanks, DD
flicka Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Hi Delfin From Bois de Bologne to Port Maillot for RER & Buses in to the centre, is only a short distance (0.7km) Have a look at this site for directions. Route finder Alternatively a) head for the Eiffel Tower for other public transport links, again within easy walking distance. b) head for Neuilly (I think I have spelt that right) Just follow the Seine Again try Via Michelin website and when you have entered routes select "on foot" Hope this is helpful Flicka
Brian Kirby Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Or try camping Maisons Lafitte. RER a short walk and then straight in to whichever station you want.
Delfin Driver Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 Flicka and Brian, Thanks for your help. Brian, it looks as though Camping Maisons Lafitte is not open out of season. Shame as it looks like a great site. Regards, DD
Hymer C 9. Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Hi Delfing driver, We stayed on the site Huttopia in Versailles which was a five minute walk to the Porchontaine RER station and within 20 mins were in the centre of Paris, we got off at Notre Dame station and walked along the Seinne, it also gave us the benifit of spending a few days in Versaille looking around the Palace and they also had a excellent market. (I just put Huttopia france into my search engine and the site came up.) and it seems to be open in Feb. Cheers Carol. *-)
