Pete-B
Hi, Decided to check the van this morning (Bessie 462) at the storage site. There was 8 inches of snow on the roof so spent 1/2 hour brushing as much as I could off, one of the reasons being, to expose the two solar panels. Got to thinking though, that 8 inches of now all over the roof must have weighed quite a bit so glad I got it off before we get the next downpour but just how much weight could these roofs take I wonder before they leak or distort? Tracker
Can't speak for your van but many vans are strong enough to walk on the roof and again I don't know about you but the weight of someone like me on the roof must stress it quite a bit albeit in a different but perhaps more concentrated way? malc d
One of the problems of any weight on the roof is that if the roof flexes by much it can effect the sealant around rooflights etc.
phalange
I would be more concerned over the extra weight put on the suspension rather than the roof, the roof is a large area whereas the suspension is only four points.
Brock
Light fluffy snow weighs hardly anything. Good idea to sweep it off though because as it freezes/compacts, it becomes much heavier.
