mansell Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 How about this one dipped headlight bulb went in Spain on our Merc Hymer really hard to replace for the one whose hands are not so supple. The second one went in the Loire, so looked in the Hymer book and set of to Rochfort [ near ], they were not interested although it said reparation on thier front. Going through Tonney ? cant remember the 2nd half of the name but only 5 miles East of Rochfort we found a Dealer that sold all sorts of Motorhomes so pulled in and asked if they could replace the bulbs. The Technician came almost straight away and after 20 mins and him nearly disappearing twice under the bonnet, JOB DONE. But the best thing was the price 27 Euros including 2 new bulbs. And what do we have DOWNHILLS sorry BROWNHILLS Keep trying it will happen.
empress Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Yes we also received excellent service in France when a lorry removed our Rapido wing mirror, one of the all singing, dancing ones so not an easy repair. A replacement mirror was ordered and fixed within two days at a reasonable charge - this was close toLa Roche-sur-Yon. Dread to think how long it would have take in the UK. Empress
Terrytraveller Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 The routine periodic services are good value too, we always have a base chassis serviced in France at a Peugeot dealer (still under warranty), some prices for a Peugeot follow ;- 1. 12000 mile service in France £60 instead of £130 at a Peugeot dealer UK. 2. 24000 mile service in France £100 instead of £260 at Peugeot dealer UK. 4. Brake oil renewal in France £20 instead of £40 at Peugeot dealer UK. They use only Peugeot parts and fully synthetic oil. We usually call at one of the Peugeot Rapide Service garages (instant services), and its all done in a few hours, whilst we go shopping. Regards Terry
mansell Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 Yes I agree I had a Merc. serviced at a good price in Royan.

michele Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Empress , We also found ourselfs in La Roche Sur Yon with an over heating problem. The Fiat garage ,drove for miles to get there from St jean de mont's Fantastic service unfortunately by the time we had got there it was late could not take the chance in going back to the site for the night so the garage told us ofa local Aire right by the lake it was beautiful on a hot summers evening . fantastic service by the garage on our way the next morning .... ;-)
Clive Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 We also have had brilliant and cost effective service from French Commercial Merc dealers. They seem to care more than their British counterparts.
