mom Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Could anyone out there suggest where I could get a mattress topper (preferably memory foam) which will have to be "made to order" because of non-standard size?Any thoughts welcome. Thanks
Dingray Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Try Raskelf on 019240409000 or www.raskelf.com I have one for home and two duvalays for the M/H They are very obliging and quick, good luck Ray
Dave Newell Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 We got one for home from Littlewoods catalougue for £99, standard double size. Perhaps you could cut one down to suit, or do you need larger than that? D.
Brian Kirby Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 If you have one near you, try Ikea. They do several "mattress comforters". various sizes and a choice of thicknesses. The thin one could be adapted with a bit of cutting/stitching. We have found it very successful.
empress Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I bought mine from an advertisement in a Sunday paper and cut it to fit. So far it has been very comfortable. I went for the 2ins depth. Empress
Philman Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Dunelm sell a single ( 3ft x 6ft 2in ) and a double ( 4ft 6in x 6ft 2in ) at quite reasonable prices including zip up covers and storage bags. I have one of each and use the double at home and the single in the van. They could easily be cut down to fit if required. Phil. ps. for the youngsters among us the sizes are approx 107 x 188 and 137 x 188 respectively. I think. (lol) P.
henry Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 :-D (lol) Hi, Have you looked at Lidles? Give it a try on www.lidles.co.uk Regards Henry
colin Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 If its to be cut down then no problem, but if its oversize 'foam for comfort' used to have large sizes some years back, not sure now though.
Guest starspirit Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 'Dreams' bed shops do 'em and you can cut it to whatever shape you need and then sew up to cover accordingly, plus with the big bonus that any offcuts can be used to make the dog's bed more comfortable. Do be aware that unless you are usung it on a fixed bed, storing it is like trying to put half a dozen large live eels into a bag with no bottom, in the dark and with welding gloves on (your hands - not on the eels) They are very comfortable to sleep on - and do anything else you like on too although at my age I can't remember what else to do other than sleep. And if you believe that.................................................!
Mel B Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 "Do be aware that unless you are usung it on a fixed bed, storing it is like trying to put half a dozen large live eels into a bag with no bottom, in the dark and with welding gloves on (your hands - not on the eels)" You live an interesting life starspirit! How on earth did you find out about eel wrestling in the dark ... didn't you have anything else better to do in the dark! (lol)
Clive Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 We got ours bespoke made from http://www.absolute-comfort.co.uk The one in the MH was so good we got another for home. C.
mom Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 Thanks everyone! I really appreciate it. Now the work begins!
Guest starspirit Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Mel, If you've never tried eel wrestling you just have not lived and must have had a very sheltered life. The best fun comes from wrestling a 50lb+ conger (which is getting on for 6' long), whilst in a 20' boat at night in rain and a force 4 wind, and whilst also trying to return the other 4 slightly smaller eels into the fish box from which they have escaped ! That sorts the men from the boys!
