Tables

When dining outside our caravan we used out standard Table that came with the caravan.

Now we have moved to the other side (motorhome) the onboard table consists of a chrome pole that drops into a hole in the floor so we cant use it outside. Has anyone found a solution to this. I would imagine it would be something like a tripod with a fixing for the pole to drop into.

Im having sleepless nights over this, is there a solution.

thanks

As Tracker says, Fiamma offers a foldable tripod base

but it’s hardly cheap and to use the your present table’s ‘pole’ with the Fiamma product the diameter of the pole would need to match the tripod’s female connector. (Too large a pole-diameter the pole won’t go in: too small a diameter the pole will wobble about.)

A less tidy (but cheaper) approach would be to knock up a wooden base and screw to its top a suitable fitting to accept the pole (example here)

Assuming you have the storage space, an alternative would be to carry a lightweight folding table for use when dining outside.

These are likely to be more stable than perching your motorhome’s table on a tripod base.

Before we had a tripod base given to us by a dealer we used a cheap conic base, as Derek suggests, that I screwed to a home made wooden tripod base and that worked very well.

At the end of each of the home made tripod base arms I added a raised foot to keep the arms clear of the ground and that helped with stability and we found three legs to be easier to get stable than four.

It didn't fold but was made of a size to fit under a bed locker - and it was cheap!!

That base was 'Desmo' but as far as my experience went the Fiamma legs fitted OK

Had a tripod base years ago found it ok on hard standings gets wobbly on grass .Get a fold away picnic table about 30 € much better and no worry about damaging the vans table dragging it in and out .
