Despite that AMD can create a macular hole. AMD is sediments above the hole. And the other is a clean hole. Because of still smaller penetrating instruments the curing time is smaller . Amd is still a problem. Out of a scale of your eye 10 -10 they can raise 4 points max if you had only 1-10. but that is a hell of a difference. 1-10 is a hole of 500 microns to a retina size of 2 mm. MikeJJ Posted April 13, 2018 Share Posted April 13, 2018 Yes very important to have the retina checked. Also an associated eye problem is Epiretinal membrane (ERM). "........It is a thin, almost transparent layer of fibrous cellular material which grows over the surface of the retina. Like a layer of plastic wrap or cellophane, it can be basically transparent. In some cases contracture of this thin fibrous tissue can cause wrinkling of the retina, like wrinkles on a bedspread......" It can be observed using an Amsler Grid if the straight lines appear wavy. The trouble is many optician chains are working too fast to spot the condition and merely say the problem is AMD when it isn't. But a 3D retinal scan should pick it up. monique.hubrechtsgm Posted April 13, 2018 Author Share Posted April 13, 2018 My partner has a macular hole, not amd on the left eye on a 3d scan. He has an operation next friday 20-11. He asked is this amd, no he said. its a clean one. Half large. The right eye is 10 to 10. On what scale are they talking? In comparision to the front part diopthry.
