Hi folks,

Part exchanged the old Swift Bolero for a new to us Bailey 740 se. Same old problem now, what tyre pressures do I use. Bailey quote 55 psi front and 80 psi rear for 215/70R15CP, i think the 80 psi rear is a common figure plucked from the sky for most makes regardless.

Anyway loaded up the Bailey, full tank of fuel and all the gear less any fresh water in the tank as we always wait until we arrive at the site, plus it saves about 90-100 kg. Got her on the scales and the front axle weighed out at 1560kg and the rear axle at 1660kg with a gross weight of 3260kg, all ok.

Now the ride was quite hard and jarring with the recommended tyre pressures so i thought i would compare them to the Tyresafe guide http://www.motorcaravanning.com/tyresafe_mh_tyres_08.pdf . I`ve now opted for 54 psi front (no big difference really) and 63 psi rear, these pressures give a little leeway and the ride is a lot less harsh. ;-)

Steve
