You've specifically asked about the “Loir Valley”, but do you really mean that?

The Loir Valley does exist

but the much larger area “Loire Valley” (where all those chateaux are) is more commonly viisited.

We have stayed at "Flower Camping L'lle d'Offard" on the island at Saumur. its on the Loire, flows both sides It has clean toilets with plenty of hot water. Pitches are a good size. You can walk into Saumur across the bridge (there is a pavement). With ACSI its 17e per night with an offer of 7 nights for the price of 6. i think its worth considering but note that the large Leclerc is on the other side of the town so a bike might be useful.

There is a very nice Aire at the Chateau in the town of Sully. Its a nice town on the Loire. We stayed at a campsite that was scruffy and no longer seems to be in the ACSI book (unsurprising). Town had a strong resistance movement during WWII and there is a monument to the fallen.

Im sure we have stayed at other places but the brain isn't working too well at the moment.

"Le Loir" is a tributary of a tributary to the much bigger "La Loire" but nonetheless has a string of towns and campsites and Aires along its length.

We have used the municipal campsite at Chateaudun (just off the N10) for many years as a transit stop and for longer stays.  It's a nice riverside spot.  There are also good Aires nearby in both Chateaudun and the adjacent St Denis Les Pont.

Details of the parking place at La Fleche are here

It’s actually next to the Loir river, not a lake and, if satellite-view and Street View is employed on the map on the link, it will be seen that it is close to a road. The parking area is used for the Wednesday weekly market - hence the presence of 230V power-points.

The road (Promenade du Maréchal Foch) that runs alongside the parking area can get very busy traffic-wise and, personally, I wouldn’t consider staying there because of that. For a quieter stay there’s a pleasant campsite on the opposite side of the river.

When we stayed in La Fleche we used the campsite - called Route D'Or - on the opposite side of the river to the aire. The aire was packed with vans but the site ( early Sept ) was very quiet - and spacious.

As Derek says the aire is alongside a very busy main road.

It might help a bit if you indicate whereabouts you want to go. It's source is a bit north of Illiers-Combray, whence it flows nearly 200 miles via Chateaudun, Vendome, La Chatre-sur-le-Loir, Le Lude, La Flèche and Montreuil-sur-Loir to Angers where it joins the Sarthe just before the Sarthe joins La Loire. There are a lot of campsites along its course!

We really enjoyed Flower Camping L'ille d'Offard. There is a pool but it isn't intrusive, near the entrance and not in the centre of the pitches. Being able to walk to the town centre, and therefore have a beer, is very pleasant. There are riverside walks too, one of our favourites on our trip through France last year.

A great site south of Samur. Is also flower camping at Montreuil Bellay, Les Noblis. Good site close to village and chateau, with beautiful gardens, large pitches , very friendly site with bar/ restaurant on the river . Been there last week,
