Jennyanddave
Hello, We are looking to buy another motorhome, something that has a rear garage to carry 2 fold-up electric bikes and a mobility scooter. I have been looking online and have found a 2005 Mercedes LMC automatic transmission with 42,000KM on the clock posted for sale for £25,000. I am awaiting further details but in the meantime I wondered if anyone out there has an opinion on LMC motorhomes. £25,000 does seem a tad overpriced for the age but if LMC are a very good make, i.e. like Hymer, then maybe that price is reasonable. Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated. Thank you Jenny

davidmac
Hi I know nothing about LMC but I think the auto gearbox for that year of Mercedes could be a sprint shift, they were not trouble free. Think they came with the 2.7 engine. Regards David
Derek Uzzell
Jenny There’s some background information on LMC motorhomes here https://www.practicalmotorhome.com/blog/30997-do-you-know-anything-about-lmc-vans and the German brand (part of the Hymer Group) is very much still alive and kicking https://www.lmc-caravan.de/en (For what it’s worth, for a while in the UK, LMC motorhomes were marketed under the “Geist” brand-name.) I can’t comment on the £25K asking-price of the 2005 LMC motorhome you’ve seen advertised on-line (it might be helpful if you provided a link to the advert) but it’s to be anticipated that the price would be negotiable. Your mention of “42,000KM on the clock” suggests that the vehicle may be left-hand-drive and, if so, you should bear that in mind price-wise if you decide to proceed further. The following link is to a 2005 review of of a Geist/LMC Mercedes-based model https://tinyurl.com/y7t86u2y
monique.hubrechtsgm
Belonging to the Hymer group does not mean that they have the same outstanding design and built quality of their top lines. LMC can not be compared whit a hymer.
