weldted
Having to use a mains only sky box, how much current by supplying a max 50 watts at 220 ac how much would an inverter draw from 12 volts doc to run it? Approx.
Millcourt
Probably around 5 amps, depending on the efficiency of your inverter, but you will almost certainly need a Pure Sine Wave Inverter to drive the electronics in your Skybox. A modified sine wave type may damage your electronics and the cheaper square wave type should certainly be avoided for this type of use.
747
I ran one for a long time using a 150 watt Modified Sine Wave inverter ... but that was a few years ago, I think it was rated at 35 watts.

sshortcircuit
About 4/5 amps as indicated. I have used modified sine for years on all type of equipment with no problems pure sine is just sales hype
