If you are careful (and think laterally) you can use the plastic square that is part of the Crit’Air ‘documentation’ to allow the sticker to be removable from the windscreen. Essentially, you stick the plastic square on the windscreen and then stick the sticker to the square.

I'm sure that's fine for a sticker such as the Crit'Air which carries the vehicle's registration number but, as an aside, using a similar method with a Swiss or Austrian motorway vignette renders it invalid - and yes they do check.

True, but unlike the emissions stickers, the Swiss vignettes are of limited validity.
