If your Bailey motorhome has one of the Jokon red/clear high-level marker lights shown on this advert

the plastic ‘lens’ clips in place.

My experience of light-units with clip-on lenses is that it’s not always obvious how to unclip the lens in order to change a bulb. Sometimes it can be done easily with no tool needed: other times a tool (eg. a screwdriver) will be required to prise the lens off. It’s also the case that the plastic lens can become brittle over time and will split if removal is attempted.

I replaced mine as the lenses were push fit and they kept falling off. These units fit the same screw holes and the lenses are fixed with screws.

Pair of steps, screwdriver, pair of needle nose pliers and maybe a tad of sealant and you are done.

That looks like the baby ! How do you replace the unit ? DIYable ? Cheers !

If you can remove the outer lens without damaging it and then replace the failed bulb, why would you want to replace the complete light-unit?

In principle, replacing the whole light-unit should be a relatively simple DIY task (though obviously you’d need to have a means to reach the light-unit and to work on it safely) but even simple tasks can prove unexpectedly challenging. This 2014 forum discussion is an example (Note: some of the links may no longer work)

If you want step-by-step instructions on replacing the bulb or the light-unit, you might be able to obtain such advice from the Bailey Motorhome Owners Group on Facebook

The light on my MacLouis is pretty high and I am not comfortable now up a ladder with nothing to hold on to as both hands are needed for working. I just went to my local garage who do all my vehicle work anyway and said. “ fix it” so they did fix a bad earth connection. Problem gone.
