Deffheads
Hi, Has anyone repaired an electric Omnistep broken rivet, the front aluminium rivet sheared and was temporarily bodged with a bolt. Now having bought the repair kit containing 2 rivets and plastic collars, I am at loss how to fix as the new rivets are steel not ali , so they can't be hammered like an ali one. Any ideas? Derek Uzzell
I note that there are caveats about fitting on this webpage http://campingequipmentshop.co.uk/omnistep-spares-parts The drawings relating to the “Repair Kit Rivet” products seem to suggest that a bolt would be used to replace a broken original rivet. This is mentioned by ‘powerplus’ in this 2016 MHFacts thread. https://forums.motorhomefacts.com/49-tech-mech-chat/175777-omni-step-rivet-repair-kit.html I would have thought that any ‘kit’ marketed to address a broken step-rivet would use a bolt+nut to replace the original rivet, rather than provide a rivet (aluminium or steel) that would require hammering to install. Suggest you ask the seller of the repair kit about this? Or ask a Thule agent? Or - if the kit is a genuine Thule product - request advice from Thule? https://support.thule.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new
