Guest Don Madge Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 Evening all, I've just been reading the June edition of Motorhome Monthly (the freebie by Bob Griffiths) There's an article about the raising of the speed limit from 80 ks to 100 ks per hour on the main dual carriageway roads and autobahns in Germany, It effects motorhomes in the 3.5 - 7.5 tonne category. It was suggested that It will come in at the "start of the touring season". Perhaps April 2005. Does anybody know if it has come into force yet? Safe travelling Don
Guest Don Madge Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 This reply was posted on the Motorhome Facts by a German member from Dortmund. "Hi Don, you´re right. Since april 1st motorhome from 3.5 - 7.5 tons are allowed 100 km/h max. speed on the \"Autobahn\". Fast greetings Franz Peter"
Guest Derek Uzzell Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 A biggish chunk about this in the News section of the Hobby website (www.hobby-caravan.de). I ran the text through Google's translator with the following result: "A large success for us travel mobilists. Since 30 March 2005 applies after information of the Caravaning of trade association e.V. (CIVD) the 12. Exception regulation to the StVO. In § the 1 it means: "deviating from § 18 exp. 5 sentence 2 NR. 1 of road traffic regulations amounts to the permissible maximum speed for motor vehicles with a permissible total weight from over 3,5 t. to 7.5 t., which are in the vehicle light live-mobilely called, on motorways (character 330) and force routes (character 331) 100 km/h." This applies naturally also to living mobile certified abroad, if from the vehicle light clearly it follows that the permissible total weight does not exceed 7.5 t.. Into this exception regulation fall all hobby travel mobile of the series "hobby 700", the Alkoven vehicles hobby 670 AK and 725 AK as well as the partialintegrated hobby 690. Further are all vehicles, which in series equipped as 3.5 t. travel mobile, optionally however up-rested. In the doubt the entries of the vehicle light apply. This regulation, which differentiates living mobile now by legal text clearly from otherwise used vehicles, is for the time being limited by 31 December 2009. We wish travelmost mobile a good journey to all! Further information receives you here also under www.caravaning info.de clicking you, in order to let all entries indicate!"
Guest bb Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Oh, so that's what Don was getting at. Why didn't you say so Don?!!
Guest Mike C Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 Date 1st April? Does this indicate that the Germans do have a sense of humour after all? What ever next? UK motorway speed limit raised to 80 mph????
