Forester
Manchester has "won" the bid!It is being handed over to a South African tycoon with a history of buying influence's, to run it or so the papers say (no smoke without fire) Another con job by this sleasy labour party (lord levy cash for honours scandle) I live in Manchester, We HAVE GOT casinos.Blackpool.If anyone has been to B/pool they would have noticed that you have to pay for parking ANYWHERE back streets in a ginnal, there is now where in B/pool without double yellows to park, A family of 4 just to park for a week you are looking £10 for over night minimum + daily charges £???? so now wonder it's going down the pan. We used to go every week for one day with our grandson, stopped that due to parking charges. So IMOP they are reapping the rewards of there seeds sown.I would value you opinions please, Thanks choppa

Dave Newell
As I don't use casinos I really don't care very much but I don't see the connection between Manchester getting the new super casino and Blackpool having all day/night parking charges. Randonneur
A lot of people won't know what a ginnal is. I am waiting for someone to ask. Being from Oldham originally this is a local term to me.

chas
We now have laws in place for near 24hr drinking. and are told that it will not cause excessive drinking or alcoholism, and now massive casinos, probably open all hours so that it will encourage Joe Soaps to gamble their money away. It may well be argued that its their money and they can do what they like with it, trouble is people with rotting livers and gambling next months wages affects their familys as well. Is this just a cynical ploy to raise more tax reveue. chas

Guest Frank Wilkinson
I sometimes feel that Britain today is the same stage as the last days of the Roman Empire.A whole new morality is being forced upon us to make us believe that it's acceptable for homosexual couples to be parents, a policy that seems to me to be more about pleasing homosexuals than giving children the best upbringing. We have 24 hour drinking and soon, 24 hour gambling, and eventually we'll have crimes committed by people who need money to feed their gambling habit just as now most crime is committed by those who need to feed their drug addiction.God save this country from the liberal left! It's no wonder that Muslims feel that we are a degenerate country.

Virtually everyone assumed that it would be built in a regeneration area near the old docks. Now the rumour is that it might be built closer to the existing town centre because, whilst they would have put a super casino near the old docks, a large one is too small and needs to be close to existing entertainment outlets. The only reason I can think of for that is that they want to attract people who have been drinking and will be better disposed to gambling their money away.
