Oops, my throwaway remark didn't get thrown away.

I wasn't really having a go at Bill Gates - wish I had half his brains, never mind the money.

Sorry I took us off thread -

If no-one wants to say anything more about the truckstop book, maybe we should stop before the Mod locks the thread?

Don't know if anyone else has used this book yet, but on Easter Sunday night we stayed at no.30 on the way to visit family in Stockport.

We'd decided to leave on Sunday night, even though I'd be "working" until just after 5pm. Didn't get away til around 6.

It's an ex-Little Chef, now a "Scoffers" cafe. I phoned last week as we knew the cafe would be shut when we got there - "No problem." As well as the "truck-park," we found a hidden corner off the cafe car-park. We cooked our own evening meal (at 9.30pm - after scouring surrounding countryside for a pub still serving!!) and had a peaceful night's sleep there, followed by a good-value breakfast in the cafe.

We'll certainly use the free and cheap ones again, but not much point for us in using the ones that cost as much as a campsite!
