Ducato exhaust heat shield

My Ducato exhaust is going a bit rusty and might need replacing soon. The outer metal covering the back box (in which both the inlet and outlet pipes are at the same end, the box nearest the open end of the exhaust pipe) has rusted through and begun to peel, though the box itself seems sound. When quoted for a new exhaust some Fiat dealers have told me that I would also have to buy a new heat-shield, but I have yet to see where or how it fits or even what one looks like. Does anyone have experience of replacing their Ducato ehxaust?

It's a 1999/2000 year 1.9TD.

I've been quoted approx £160 for the exhaust and either £25 or £75 depending which of two heat shields might be needed.
