cmball
We are selling our Hymer 675SL. One potential buyer has had a habitation check done and has told us that the engineer found that our trip switch did not function when he forced a power overload. As far as we are aware our van has loads of fuseson the EBL 101 unit but no "trip switch". The manual makes no mention of it either. Does anyone know if Hymers of this age have one and if so where is it located? Thank you
BruceM
Not a Hymer owner, but Is he referring to the ‘trip switch’ on the 240v EHU electrics rather than anything to do with the EBL?
StuartO
The engineer may have been referring to the electrical circuit breaker trip on the incoming mains supply, which on our 2006 Hymer is a white plastic box next to the boiler under the wardrobe - but layouts vary among hymen’s so look inside, close to where your external plug-in socket is. Ours has had a 10amp DIN circuit breaker from new and that was pretty standard for Hymers but yours may have been modified, for example by updating it to a 16 amp MCB, to allow the full potential of an EHU to be realised. This is unlikely to be a serious fault and a replacement MCB is easy to fit and an inexpensive part. Any domestic electrician should do it in a few minutes. cmball
That is really helpful-thank you! We will go to the storage yard tomorrow with a torch and investigate the boiler cupboard and the wardrobe!

Derek Uzzell
I’m not sure whether this will be relevant, but this 2007 MHFacts forum thread https://forums.motorhomefacts.com/49-tech-mech-chat/29295-hymer-rcd-location.html suggests that (back then) an RCD (Residual Current Device) may not have been fitted to Hymer (or Frankia) motorhomes, with the 230V circuits just being protected by MCBs. cmball
Thanks everybody! Found the circuit breaker in boiler cupboard, located them online, just need to order one and hopefully then all sorted.
