Stratford on Avon Motorhome Show

Had planned to camp at the racecourse for the next few days to see the show and visit the town. Last went there probably 20 years when it was run by Stone Leisure and the ground was very very wet.

Anyone there or live locally who can advise current conditions.Thanks.

Living in Birmingham (35 minutes away)

It has rained constantly for the past three days and nights although quite nice this morning though.

You are allowed to overnight on the main car park in Stratford on Avon.

Perhaps stay there and go as a day visitor?

Pete's probably right given the rainfall over all that part of the world in recent days. The last time we went to the show (a couple of years ago) most of the camping areas were flooded by heavy rain and they struggled to maintain it. Also, the last two times we have been the show itself has been very disappointing - not nearly as good as Stone Leisure had it.

It's a real shame as we thoroughly enjoyed a week at the racecourse in close proximity to the town.

We live in Evesham and it has been raining on and off for several days. We were going as a day visitor, if only to chat with old friends on various stands, but our experience of a wet Stratford show ground has not been good over the years so we have decided against. There is not a lot of joy in mudplugging in wellies in June, and even less for those unfortunate enough to need towing out of the quagmire!

The Statford show, as others have said, is not what it once was and if you are travelling a long way as long as it is primarily for the camping experience, or to visit Stratford, with the show as a secondary reason it can be a good weekend if the ground is dry - and this year I doubt it is dry!

We have not been for a few years now but the Peterborough and Newbury shows used to be the best, but beware Peterborough in the wet, and even Newberry can be tricky when wet.

That's just my perception, others may think differently!

I totally agree with your perception. We booked Stratford as it is cheapish camping in walking distance of an interesting town. For the same reason we go to the Broadlands show at Romsey.

However the smaller shows do have different exhibitors and smaller converters many of whom have new ideas. It makes a welcome change from bed and park home salesman!

A delegation from the Chinese export board will be there to ensure only the best and most useless crap is available at every show!

And you can get an over priced bacon roll and a cup of the show speciality drink called BOC.

Bloody Orrible Coffee!
