Mel B Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Hi Mr Mod Can you please tell us if we are going to get back: 1) the lost postings? 2) the lost PMs that were sent and received? Ta chuck Mel B :-S
Mel B Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 Looks like he's not talking to me! :'(
Mel B Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 I thought it was a he? 8-) Have you some insider knowledge Michele? :-S
michele Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Morning Mrs Mod /Mr Mod?......Have a nice day (lol)
Administrator Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 'Morning! Sorry, I've been off with 'flu since Friday. I'm afraid that I'm the bearer of rather bad news - both our main and backup server decided to spontaneously combust within a few minutes of each other and we've lost all forum information between the 12th and 16th of February - messages, PMs, user accounts, the lot. Obviously this isn't a situation we're particularly happy with, and we're taking steps to make sure it doesn't happen again, but there's really nothing we can do now. Sorry!
Tony Jones Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Sorry you've not been well - hope you're fully recovered now, not just forcing yourself back to work because there's no-one else there. Just goes to show, you really are "only human." Unless of course it was the server that gave you the "virus," in which case, who knows?? Thanks for all you do for us, even in the background - we've just discovered how much we miss you when you aren't around!! Tony
michele Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 well done hope you are better soon ........... ;-)

Would never have happened if you hadn't sneezed over it before you left! :-)
net-traveller Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Sorry to be picky but surely, even with a backup server, you still take backups and store them off-site? ;-)
Philman Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Wouldn't it be luverly if you could run the AVG Anti Virus program and get rid of the 'flu (?) Phil. (lol)
Brian Kirby Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Philman - 2007-02-21 2:47 PM Wouldn't it be luverly if you could run the AVG Anti Virus program and get rid of the 'flu (?) Phil. (lol) Well, in theory this is possible. The only problem, is getting the CD up your nose!
Mel B Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 It's not getting the CD up there that's the hard bit ... it's getting it spinning to the right RPM that's problematic! 8-) Mr Mod - don't the servers have hard drives that the back-up data is stored on? If so, isn't the data still there? (?) Oh, forgot to say, hope you're feeling much better now ... we REALLY, REALLY missed you. :$
twooks Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 presumably the only way to get it back would be a restore which would wipe out everything done since .. .. :-S B-)
Administrator Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Yep, feeling much better now thanks! As for the data loss - it's all handled offsite by another company, but I hear that there was a catastrophic failure of both the original and the backup. I would image the air turned blue pretty quickly. Measures have been taken to ensure that it doesn't happen again. As for the 'flu not happening again.... I'm afraid I can't provide any guarantees on that one ;)
