Awning help

Hi and welcome, if no one has said that to your previous postings !

Awnings are a marmite subject, either Mhomers love them or hate them.

If you use the search facility ( in the tab row above marked " search our forums" above the thread, just enter "awning" and " all posts" in the date limit drop down. You will have enough reading for the weekend.

Air awnings are popular but can be weighty as everything is in one bag so needs space to store and transport. Metal or fibre frames can be split up into seperate bags and packed around the vehicle.

Consider wether you need a built in ground sheet, or lift able one. The former can be a problem if on grass for any length of time. We learnt the hard way and can generally pitch on handstands.

Reconnecting the awning can be difficult for some, it's a bit like reversing a caravan onto a peg, some can make a real meal of it, whilst others just make it look simple and easy.

We watched one unfortunate, who managed to drive over his awing ! Apparently he has his mirrors confused.
