GJH
Hello Maggyd, Our van is booked in for its first MoT on Monday next week. The guy who is doing it for us is a mobile mechanic called Paul Barnard (07767 838288) who we have known for over 15 years. He used to work at the North East Service Station on Marton Road in Middlesbrough (where the big cinema is now) and started up on his own when that place closed down. We used to have our cars serviced there and then by Paul subsequently until the last few years when, having bought brand new cars, we had to have them dealer serviced for warranty purposes. Our Berlingo is now 3 years old and out of warranty so we decided to go to Paul again for its service and first MoT. When he did the job a couple of weeks ago I asked if he could handle something as big as our Autoquest 100 and he confirmed then that he could do so. He mentioned that he looks after a larger van based on an Iveco. Whether or not he can do your van will depend on its size I suppose but it would be worth giving him a ring. maggyd
Thanks Graham gave Paul a ring but no reply left a message Ill let you know if he can do it, your van looks very much the same size as ours which is a 610 Kontiki 2003. maggyd
Gave paul a ring Graham. John arranged for him to service and mot van, Only thing Im not happy with is He will pick up van and take it then bring it back. Is this normal? it seems to me its a bit risky What about insurance and Where does he take it?.
GJH
Hello Margaret, No need to worry. Paul has to take the van away because it has to be tested at an official testing station. I've just taken the Berlingo test cert out to check and he takes vehicles to Middlesbrough MOT Station on North Ormesby Road. Graham
Dave Newell
The insurance aspect brought up by Maggyd is an important one, if in doubt ask to see a copy of his insurance certificate. I'm not trying to cast doubts over this chap as I don't know him but I pay a small fortune for insurance that covers me fully comprehensive for any vehicle up to £75,000 total value. anybody driving customers vehicles for motor trade purposes must have a motor traders policy with a sufficiently high maximum to ensure your vehicle is fully covered. GJH
Dave is absolutely right of course that insurance must be in place. I'm sure as I can be that there are no problems. Just tried to ring Paul but his answer phone was on so I'll see if I can catch him later. Graham
starvin marvin
Ring BT Fleet 08000 284 387 or e-mail customer.services@btfleet.com. To find your nearest and they will quote you a price for the works. Remember that all BT staff are salaried and don't go looking for "work". I always use them brilliant service and good prices, from fully trained staff. BT Fleet are all part of BT plc and are capable of servicing and MOT any size of vehicle and any make. They can also do gas checks on your appliances, as some larger BT vans have gas heaters in them. Just ask.
GJH
Paul just rang me back. He confirms that he is fully insured and is happy to show his certificate if required. Graham

david lloyd
maggyd My last van was a boxer based coachbuilt and (since it needed to be main dealer serviced for warranty) I had it done at Simon Bailes in Stockton. They did a good job but there is a Simon Bailes about five hundred yards from my house and they couldn't get it on the ramp!! They are Peugeot dealers but, if yours is Fiat, would also service/MOT other vehicles. David
