If you can't find a android app, chuck the phone away and get a windowsphone, they come with here maps which you can load on phone and take co ordinates.

p.s. why can't you download google maps offline and enter co ordinates?

Entering WGS84 coordinates in google maps does work on a phone,so thanks for that.As I do a lot of remote hiking this will be usefull on a phone.

Have you tried this one ?

https://www.myrouteapp.com/en/tyre

I used Tyre when it was free because it is compatable with Garmin satnavs. Rarely needed so I thought not worth paying for.

I have just discovered another possibility on another forum ... it is what3words. I don't think I am allowed to link to another forum so I can pm the link if you need it.

Quite a good app in certain circumstances. I was particularly interested in WGS 84 datum as coordinates of campsites are usually given in these.
