jumpstart
I’ve been looking for an Android app that you can input WGS84 datum to find a place and use off line.I’ve got one that tells me what it is in my present location, but I want to find one that basically acts as a TomTom sat nav. Any ideas.?

colin
If you can't find a android app, chuck the phone away and get a windowsphone, they come with here maps which you can load on phone and take co ordinates. p.s. why can't you download google maps offline and enter co ordinates? jumpstart
Got a windows phone but will soon have to change it as more & more services are not being supported. Like WhatsApp. I’ve not tried entering coordinates on google maps but will give it a try. Thanks. Was looking to see if anyone actually had an app for it? 747
What about Maps Me? It is an offline map, can be used as a satnav and you can add custom POI to it.

Entering WGS84 coordinates in google maps does work on a phone,so thanks for that.As I do a lot of remote hiking this will be usefull on a phone. Is far as I can see with this you can’t I put specific datum just place names.
jumpstart
The trouble with google maps is that you can only download a relatively small area to look at offline. So that’s why I was looking for an app where say for France the whole country can be viewed off line.
dipsticks
You can input UTM values on OsmAnd on Android and use offline.
jumpstart
Yes ,as I have OS mapping on my phone I can use it off line and I put in that data. But that’s only good for UK. I’m looking at Guru maps and Gaia Maps for back country routes in Eu.

I have just discovered another possibility on another forum ... it is what3words. I don't think I am allowed to link to another forum so I can pm the link if you need it. Quite a good app in certain circumstances. I was particularly interested in WGS 84 datum as coordinates of campsites are usually given in these.
