Robbo
Tell us more. Is the cold water supply pipe......a rigid pipe or a flexible pipe? If you have a flexible pipe, a hairdryer is useful to soften the plastic to ease extraction from the tail. If rigid, you probably have a John Guest connector - google the name and select a utube vid for instructions on how to detach. Sometimes, with mixer taps, there is a pin that can be removed to release both hot & cold tails. The leak maybe from the tap body and running down the water supply pipes. Perhaps you can supply a little more detail, otherwise it becomes a guessing game.
Derek Uzzell
Historically Auto-Sleepers has used ‘John Guest type’ push-fit connectors in its motorhome water systems. The early postings on this 2012 forum thread https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Pipe-fittings/29351/ have photos showing a variety of this type of connector and there’s advice later on how to disconnect the water hoses. To disconnect a push-fit connector from a hose, the ‘collet' that's normally visible in the stepped shoulder of a connector’s end must be pushed back into the shoulder. This is not always easy to do and it may be necessary to use a tool like a wide-bladed screwdriver to force the collet back. Then, while continuing to hold the collet firmly in the pressed-in position, the hose should be pulled through the collet and out of the connector. Push-fit connectors can have a security device that prevents the collet from being depressed accidentally. This may be a simple clip that fits into the ’slot’ to the rear of the collet, or a cover that clips on to the connector’s end and and covers the collet. Obviously, when such a device is fitted, it must be removed before the collet can be pushed back.
