Randonneur
Does anyone know of a Satellite Elevation Meter for finding the correct angle of a satellite dish? There is a digital one available but at £200+ is rather too expensive for our pockets. I think this one is used by the Professional installers. Guest starspirit
Would a protractor on a spirit level be accurate enough as it would certainly be cheap?
michele
Sylvia, maxview do a small inline meter which will show you your signal strenght and a small compass assuming you are looking for astra 2 . With the sat location located on the dial . Digital compass is £37 and a basic for £6.30 which shows astra 1/2 and hotbird and the inline sat finder £25 which will show the stenght of signal once you have pointed the dish in the right direction from the compass reading . Hope this helps Maxview...However it may pay to speak to someone who knows about this subject as ours isn fully auto one button touch system .... colin
Here's a link to a seller http://www.satellitesuperstore.co.uk/install.htm Inclinometers are lower down page, you will need to find a 'zero' and work from there And here's some more, those bubble jobbies look a bit to cheapo for my liking http://www.wizardsatellite.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=49_111

Dave Newell
Most sat dishes have a basic scale stamped into the mounting brackets but as a rule of thumb when the arm is horizontal the elevation is around 23 degrees (perfect for the midlands). ;-) Further south you need more elevation and further north you need less. passionwagon
:-D For elevations get a copy of the Roadpro catalogue and you will find an elevation map for whole of Europe. *-)
