You could try Malgrat, the town is just north of Barcelona and has its own r/station. The site is called Camping Bon Repos, I'm pretty sure it has a web site. Anyway its also just south of Malgrat at a place called Santa Susanna, The site is right on the beach with a bar and restuarant and is open all year, with the plus of over-night security guards who can let you in if you arrive late. Last time I stayed was end Dec 06 cost with hookup about 15 euros/£10.50.

Stop looking at the wire - start digging the tunnel.

:-D We have stayed at Villanova, several times infact spent 2005 New Year there, there is a bus comes every half hour to the site and takes you to village and train station, trains run every 20minutes to Barcelona, and from memory it is about a 20min run, for the centre of Barcelona you get off at the second Barcelona station.the site is open all year and has great facilities, ie; indoor pool, games room, lovely resturant bike hire etc. I certainly would not go further in the winter months in Costa Brava, as the weather is not so good (although this part is good), I would more head to Costa Blanca, where the weather is on the whole much better, around65/70. we spend most winters in spain and have never been disappointed weather or site wise with Costa Blanca, hope this helps.MM

enodreven - 2007-06-06 9:17 PM Hi, I always thought Northern Spain was From San Sebastian to La Coruna along the Atlantic/Bay of Biscay coast ?
I would say that Barcelona is in North East Spain.

Funny how we picture things, isn't it?  I think Derek is technically correct, since the Pyrenees run almost East-West; putting Barcelona and Girona in the North-Eastern corner.

However, I wonder if Pete meant the Northern coast of Spain as Brian surmised, from San Sebastian to a Coruna?  If he did, we can all stop thinking of places along the Med and Pyrenees.

Care to help us to help you Pete?

Likewise I am looking for a site handy to Barcelona for early October.

What we have done when we have visited just for 48 hours is to park out at the airport (pay and display about 16€ a day if I recall correctly). Easy access to the town by bus or train from there. No one challenged us and we even snuck out and slept over in the van overnight. The planes stop around 12 and didn't restart till 4 so it wasn't so bad. No one challenged us and it was an easy big carpark with plenty of room. After all they weren't to know that we hadn't taken a flight to the UK so I guess it is not important to them.

But this time we want to be there longer so I would like to find a site, perhaps on the Sitges/Barcelona route. Anyone know of anywhere please?

We stayed at a site just outside Barcelona called Tres Estrellas. The most expensive camp site in Europe at 30 Euros per night! It was on the bus route into the city. There was a pool, the usual facilities, decent sized pitched, some right by the beach, shops and internet cafe. That said it was 30 Euros!!

We saw signs for the aire. It was near the sea and we were told it was quite safe. That said we were new to vanning then and didn't feel up to it. Although now we would give it a go!

On a similar theme, I have heard about an 'aire' in Barcelona - 'The Forum' with 100 spaces and 24hour security at 18 euros per night. Has anybody used it or does anybody have further information please?  Roy.

We stayed there in April.

Here's a link:- http://www.lapaca.org/areas/ficha_area.php?area_id=52

You can find all the Spanish 'aires' from this link:-

Just stayed on the Barcelona Park & Ride aire and can recommend it. 23euro per day includes electric but take a long cable with 2 pin continental plug as they have just one outlet bank and you might not be very close by if it is crowded. Site is 24hour security staffed, with surveillance cameras. 100 yards from the tram system. Take your ear plugs as it is pretty noisy with traffic.

Assuming you mean the Northern Spain as in "Green Spain" I would suggest you make Potes one of your "centres" if you are touring as this old historic town is well worth a visit.

The longest single span cable car ride at Fuente De is just up the road and the coast with great places to visit.

Walking is good but do make sure you are well equipped and have a good map.

Of all the places I visit - Northern Spain is one of those special ones that makes me want to go back.

You will have to brush up on your Spanish though! No English spoken.
