StuartO
I woke up this morning reluctant to switch the radio on; I had enough of this or that awful prediction or explanation about how something could have been done much better by them. I needed cheering up.So I watched Breakfast on BBC1 and there were cheery item after cheery item: a family singing a melody of funny takes on musical tunes, a postman who's been dressing up in a variety of costumes to surprise and entertain the people on his round, coverage of fathers submitting to haircuts by their children - all heartenning stuff. Just what I needed.I feel proud to be British!
pepe63xnotuse
I'm finding that there is nothing much to be gained by watching "the news" etc at the moment... Constantly being updated with rising casualty counts, and reports of how we haven't got enough X,Y and Z etc to cope, is not really going to help anyone.. We've got a very long way to go yet, so being ground down by it so soon into it, is not good... On a upside, the postie has just delivered me a card, handmade by my 4 year old grandaughter!!. :-D (..I've gone from looking after her 2-3 days a week, to not seeing her for two weeks!..only another 10-12 weeks to go!! :-( ) But the bigger picture is, when all this is done, if not seeing loved ones for a few months is the worst we have to endure, then we would've come out of it well. Stay safe and healthy.
StuartO
It was impressive to learn what has been achieved to make the London Nightingale Hospital ready for use in a matter of day, so there is some good news about the virus outbreak. Someone's clearly been plannng that for a while and it's also a plan that's been executed very quickly and well. But I could certainly do without opposition MPs (or any other self appointed "expert") getting themselves on TV by making purely destructive attempts to criticise for criticisings sake. Ever since Emily Thornbury threw that tantrum and threatened to sue a fellow Labour MP for telling the public what she apparently (and entirely credibly) said in private about constituents she has seemed to come across as peevish and as well as calculating in what she says, not a nice person at all. I used to think she was one of the better ones but roll on the end of the Labour Leadership Contest, when she will hopefully no longer be a Shaddow anything.
