Dear all,i am a new member,so hello to all and hoping that someone can help,

I have a 2010 fiat ducato chausson s2 motorhome that is very new to us(not been anywhere),with the lock down WITH THIS DREADFUL VIRUS i am taking the time going through the camper and sorting out a few issues i have come across,

One is that when i tried to use the fresh water pump water comes from the shower head as soon as it is pressurised,i looked at the pump as the previous owner said that he had installed another one, this is a shurflo but it is 100 psi and 5.2 lpm ,straight away thought that doesn't seem right and looked at other motorhome pumps online most are 20-30 psi some 45,but would like to put this back to what it was from the factory, shurflo do a trail king 7 lpm at 20 psi can anyone advise please

thanks,chris

I'd say that 25psi would be the norm for a motorhome's pressurised water system; all my various boats and vans have run with pumps at pressures around that. I'd get rid of the 100psi one ASAP before something bursts! For example a Truma Combi has a maximum system pressure of 4.5 bar (64ish psi).

Thanks steve,I new the pump was to powerful for the system as soon as i saw it but wasn't sure what to replace it with we haven't used it apart from turning it on and finding the problem, and looking up after you have mentioned it it has a truma hot storage tank that is 3.5 bar max and is turned off, so i will order the shurflo trail king 7 lpm/20 psi straight away and and hope that nothing has been damaged by the previous owners bodge >:-( hopefully not but only time will tell, being new camper owners never thought to run hot water just took there word for it that everything worked, thanks steve once again, kind regards, chris

As will be seen from this advert

https://waterfedpole.com/shurflo-8000-946-138-pump-100psi-5-2lpm.html

the SHURflo 8000-946-138 100psi/5.3lpm pump is often used by the window-cleaning trade.

The SHURflo Trail King 7 (7 litres per minute flow rate) is commonly fitted to motorhomes. The Trail King 7 comes in 20si or 30psi variants and the 20psi version usually seems to be installed as original equipment. (All three of my motorhomes have had 20psi Trail King 7 water pumps and that pressure has prove adequate for shower usage.)

Asking prices vary (current ebay adverts here)

Depending on what the previous owner has done (or not done!!!) you may need a filter and the appropriate connectors to install the replacement pump in your Chausson motorhome, and it’s sometimes cheaper to buy the pump + filter + connectors as a ‘package’, than to buy the pump and the filter and connectors as separate items.

SHURflo pumps can be quite loud when pumping water. Quieting measures can be taken, but you should expect to hear the pump when it is operating.

There’s an elderly Operation Manual here

and this Pentair video may be of interest

There’s also a review of a 2010 Chausson Flash S2 here

Given the previous owner’s incompetence, you might want to note these 2013 MHFacts threads and check that the rear-corners damp problems mentioned don’t affect your S2.

Hi Derek and many thanks for the info,i have fitted the surflo 7 20 psi and it seems to be working well with much better flow, but the shower head still leaks so i have removed the cartridge in the valve and await a replacement, hard to tell if it was because the very high pressure was to blame or just wear and tear, anyway if the new cartridge works it's a quick fix,

ALSO

Thanks for the info also on the underneath protection i will be out tomorrow to have a look, and the possibility of and preventing any damp issues and sealing the rear lights and bumper panel, great chris

It’s more likely that the 100psi pump could have damaged the water pipework or forced pipework connectors apart than harm the cartridge of a water outlet.

10 years is a good lifespan for a cartridge, so a new one should cure the leak. The main thing is to obtain a suitable cartridge and, as you’ve been able to remove the old one, replacement should be straightforward.

I came across this 2014 MHFacts forum discussion about a 2011 Chausson shower-tray

Something else worth you checking...
