Shewolf55
Dear all, in preparation for our first motor home trip, hopefully sometime this year. We live in France, so travel restrictions might be lifted by September, we hope. It will be our first trip, so can anyone tell me what coins the Aire machines take? Obviously, and hopefully, a lot will take our French cards, but just in case; do the machines take 50 centime coins? Many thanks Sarah xx
Agaric
They are usually jetons which are from a local town hall or shop and cost 2 euros, added to that they come in 3 types. When you can use coins it's normally a 2 euro piece.
Nicepix
As Agaric says; there are at least three types of jetons (tokens) and you can usually buy them from local businesses such as tabacs or bars and tourist information centres or supermarkets if the service station is in their car park. As well as the three companies who operate service stations you might find some independent machines in communal aires. It is best to check out which companies are responsible for the services by looking up the aires in the book that you can get at supermarkets or search online. More aires are now taking credit or debit cards too just to add to or reduce the confusion.
